This 6-hours Tallinn Jewish tour takes you though the history of Tallinn Jewish community, and the best places in Tallinn including the Old town.
During this tour, you will see all the main attractions in Tallinn along with the opportunity to get to know the past and present of the Jewish community in Estonia.
We will start the tour from the port or hotel and continue towards the impressive Kadriorg Park. In the park, we will visit the rose garden, which includes 6200 roses of all colors, stop at the President’s house to hear about the President and the Estonian flag, and of course take a picture with the guards. Then we will reach the most important and beautiful point in the park, which is the magnificent Kadriorg Palace, which was built by Peter the Great for his wife Catherine.
After that, we will continue on a short drive to Tallinn’s Olympic Park, which was built in 1980 during Moscow Olympics, and stop in the communism memorial. Here we will see also a spectacular view of the new and old Tallinn.
On the way to the synagogue, the Jewish community building, and the Jewish school, we will stop at the Rusalka statue and hear its story. When we reach the community complex, we enter the synagogue and hear the story of the Jewish community from its inception to the present day. Those who wish can use the synagogue’s WiFi and of course put on Tefillin.
After the synagogue, we will continue on a two and a half hour tour of Tallinn’s Old Town. The bus/minibus will take us to Toompea Hill (the highest point in the Upper Old Town) and from there we will stroll among the old houses, the magnificent churches and of course we will stop at magical viewpoints that are unparalleled in any country during the cruise. All this with interesting explanations and short breaks for rest.
As soon as we finish the Upper Town, we will start descending towards the Lower Town and there we will stop for an hour of free time where you can drink coffee, buy souvenirs in the central market or just stroll through the magical alleys. After the break, we will walk through the lower town of the Old Town, stop at the oldest pharmacy in Europe that is still active, hear stories and legends about executioners and kings, discover the ancient Town Hall and of course walk through the Old Town’s Artists’ Street. At the end of the tour, we will pass by the Viru Gate and the colorful Tallinn Flower Market.
After the Old Town, we will go for a short tour of the Rotermanni neighborhood, which was an industrial area and is now a very interesting neighborhood built in a neo-modern style.
